Here's what some of our volunteers think of Springboard Bromley:

Faye (left) worked with staff and students on our E2E programme, and utilised her volunteering expereince to help her make a career change. As Faye explained, "I was a secretary in the City for years, but really wanted to work with young people. Volunteering is a great way to gain experience. Springboard Bromley is superb - this is the first time in my life I have done something different and I was made to feel really welcome right from the start. Ultimately I hope to go on to become a Personal Advisor."

Joanne was a volunteer assesor for Business Administration and worked with us 1 day a week. Joanne worked as a medical secretary but was qualified as an assessor and needed to gain active experience. By volunteering at Springboard Bromley she got the experience she needed, and is now employed as an assessor! As Joanne said, "I would definately recommend volunteering to anyone - it gives you a chance to explore a field of work and make a decision as to whether it is for you."

Sarah works supporting our Basic Skills Team, and started volunteering after periods of ill health meant she had been unable to keep a job. As Sarah explained, “When my health started to improve I thought I’d try volunteering. I enjoy helping others – it makes me feel good and gives me the satisfaction that I’ve achieved something in helping people to get where they want to be. There is a nice, relaxing atmosphere at Springboard Bromley and I’d recommend volunteering to anyone, whatever their reasons.”

Christine retired from teaching but found she got bored at home. As Christine says, “I went on-line to see what I could do and got put in touch with Springboard Bromley. I was asked if I’d like to work assisting students with their English and Maths, and I now volunteer 2 mornings a week. Teaching is the only skill I have and it is nice to be able to help young people who have problems in class. I definitely think the students benefit from the one to one help I am able to offer. Also, when you volunteer with Springboard Bromley you are reimbursed for your travel costs, so it doesn’t cost you anything to volunteer.”
