Foundation Learning

The aim of our Foundation Learning programme is to help you make the step into regular employment, further education or an apprenticeship. If you are aged 16-19 you will not have to pay for your training – it is government funded. If you are 20 or over please contact us for costs. Our Foundation Learning course includes:

1. Induction programme
2. Sessions to improve and develop a range of skills
3. Literacy,Numeracy and ICT training
4. Vocational training
5. ‘Moving On’ sessions

1. Our programme starts with a 2 week induction, which all students complete. It consists of various activities aimed at making you feel welcome and preparing you for the world of work.

2. We can provide you with individual support sessions to help enhance your personal effectiveness in areas such as confidence, communication, behaviour, assertiveness and anger management.

3. You will work towards qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy.

4. You will undertake work experience and can work towards qualifications in a number of areas:
Business Administration (NVQ Level 1) Childcare (NVQ Level 1) Basic Construction Skills (multi skills) ICT (City & Guilds) The length of time on programme is different for every student. However, as a guide the average length of stay is about 22 weeks. You will work between 16 – 30 hours per week.

5. We offer ‘Moving on’ sessions to provide you with an individual action plan to identify your next steps after completing the programme.
