Ever thought about a career in Childcare?

Are you caring and committed to providing care for children? Can you be patient, but firm and consistent? Are you a good communicator? Would you enjoy working closely with parents? Then a career in Childcare may be for you!

You could work in a nursery or crèche, in a school supporting teachers, or in a after-school and holiday club. To work in Childcare you will need to undertake a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.

What training does Springboard Bromley offer? We offer Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeship in Child Care. If you are aged 16-24 you will not have to pay for your training – it is government funded. If you are 25 or over please contact us for costs.

What do Apprenticeships involve? Apprenticeships are all about gaining skills and expertise whilst doing the job

To complete an Apprenticeship you will need to be employed in a work placement that relates to the qualification you are studying. You will be paid a salary by your employer for the duration of your Apprenticeship.

In some instances you may be able to start working towards some of the qualifications for your Apprenticeship without being employed. If this is the case you may be entitled to claim EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance). You can obtain an application pack for EMA by calling 080 810 16 2 19, or by pre-registering on the EMA website at www.ema.dfes.gov.uk.

You will attend Springboard Bromley for regular training days. Your Training Advisor will agree your particular pattern of attendance with you.

Childcare Apprenticeships (NVQ Level 2) may take between 12-15 months. Advanced Apprenticeships (NVQ Level 3) typically take up to 24 months.

During your Apprenticeship you will complete an NVQ (Level 2 or 3), Key Skills and a Technical Certificate. More information about these can be found on our Apprenticeships page.
